The Abbey Church was founded by the monks of the nearby Paisley Abbey and originally dedicated to God and St. Mirrin. After a period of neglect, the church was restored to its original glory in the late 19th century, when the church was the scene of many important events in Scottish history. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.
