History:
The present church was built in 1514 on the site of an earlier medieval church, which had been founded in 1502 as one of the oldest parish churches in Scotland. In 1667 it underwent significant renovations, including a new roof, galleries added to the west and north sides, and the first two aisles extended. In 1810, the east window, three of the other windows, and a new communion table were added as part of a refurbishment project. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.
