Fortrose Cathedral in Scotland is an ancient Episcopal parish church located in the town of Rosemarkie, in the Black Isle region, in northeastern Scotland. The original building dates back to the 12th century, although the current building is mainly from the 15th century. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Balthere, a Celtic saint and is included in the Historic Scotland list of heritage buildings. History:

The original building may have been founded in the 12th century, possibly by Gilbert (or Gille Comgan), Earl of Moray. It is known that the builder was named Hegaldus, and the work was completed in 1174. However, the current building mostly dates to the late 15th century, when the chancel and transepts were reconstructed. The cathedral features a 15th-century sandstone west tower, with an octagonal-shaped upper stage and inverted conical roof, as well as a square caphouse roof. The south transept has a 15th-century window and a 15th-century carved stone panel of the 'Seven Sorrows Of The Virgin'. There is a large leaning corner buttress which is known as the 'Abbot's Leaning Tower.'
