Hamilton Old Parish Church was founded in 1656 by James, 6th Earl of Hamilton and 4th Marquis of Hamilton. The building was originally known as Hamilton Free Parish Church and has served the community of Hamilton ever since. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.

- Hamilton Old Parish Church is the oldest surviving Presbyterian church building in Lanarkshire - It is the only existing church in the city of Hamilton to date from the 17th century - The church was designed by John Howie of Lochgoin, one of the most famous Scottish architects of the period - It was originally built in a simple rectangular design - The church has seen various alterations throughout its history, including the addition of the steeple in 1722

Hamilton Old Parish Church offers varied weekly services, including Sunday services, midweek services, weekday services, youth groups and Bible studies. MPC Kids meets regularly and caters for children from nursery to secondary school.
