History:
Camelon Saint John's dates back to Medieval times and the Knights Templar and Knights Hospitaller had a presence in the village in the 12th and 13th centuries. The village was fortified in 1436 when King James II granted the lands of Lipshopher to Gavin Veitch, who built a stone wall round the village. Over the years the village has changed and evolved and it now has a diverse population, including a large ethnic minority presence. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Scotland.

Camelon Saint John's is one of the oldest settlements in Scotland and is home to one of the oldest Baptist churches in Scotland. The Camelon Parish Church (Episcopalian) is also located here and dates back to 1504. The village was the birthplace of Iron Age poetess Auld Mearb, who wrote the poem 'The Lament of Camelon'.

Camelon Saint John's has a variety of amenities, including the Camelon Library, Camelon Health Centre, Camelon Primary School, two public houses, a fish and chip shop, and several convenience stores. There are also a number of small businesses in the village.
