Architecture:

Masjid al-Qiblatayn in Saudi Arabia was built by Ibn e Umar ibn Abdulaziz in 717 AH (1317-1318 CE). The mosque is built with a traditional, simple and symmetrical design that is typical of the architecture of the start of the Mamluk era in Egypt and Syria. It has a courtyard framed by colonnades on four sides, a white marble Mihrab and dome, and five entrances that open into the prayer hall. The main Qibla wall of the mosque is decorated with three large domes and two minarets that tower over the other parts of the building. Inside, the central part of the mosque is composed of a large prayer hall with a large wooden Mihrab and prayer niche, flanked by two minarets and a single dome. The minarets each bear the inscription of the names of the two Ahmad ibn Number and Ibn al-Hussain. The minarets are made of white marble and adorned with colorful floral tiles, a symbol of the Mamluk era. The two prayer halls located on the sides of the main prayer hall are smaller in size and decorated with intricate wooden carvings. The overall design of the mosque clearly reflects the traditional architectural style of the Mamluk period in the Middle East.
