Architecture:

The Masjid al-Mahmoud is a large mosque located in the Al-Sudeir District of Riyadh. It is a modern mosque and was opened to the public in May 2005. The mosque features a spacious central hall, surrounded by four tall minarets that dominate the skyline. The central hall is adorned with a magnificent chandelier and has seven domes of various sizes. There are twelve grand columns that support the roof. The interior of the mosque is decorated with beautiful marble and tile, and many of the walls are adorned with inscriptions from the Qur'an. Above the prayer hall is a large dome, which is encircled by a golden crown that is lit up each night. The mosque also contains a ‘holy house’, where the remains of the Prophet Muhammad's first wife, Khadijah bint Khuwailid, are kept in a glass case. The grounds of the mosque are surrounded by gardens, fountains, and a car park. There is also an information center located near the entrance. Masjid al-Mahmoud in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. Friday prayer services are open for men only.
