The architecture of Masjid al-Hudaibiya in Mecca, Saudi Arabia is a modern example of grey limestone originating from the Makkah region. Built at an estimated cost of US$15 million, the mosque took two years to complete. The mosque is shaped like an octagon and has 12 ribbed arches which surround the main prayer hall. The mosque stands at the foot of Mount Hira and is composed of three floors. At each corner of the mosque, a small minaret rises more than 20 meters tall with a diameter of 1.7 meters. The mosque features detailed Islamic decorations with 50 Koranic verses knotted all around the top of the main structure. Four large Quranic verses grace the walls of the inner sanctuary. The mosque also boasts its "largest and most magnificent skylight ever to be built in the Middle East" with a diameter of 10 meters and a height of 15 meters. It's made of glass panels supported by a metal frame. On the first floor, one finds a spacious prayer hall with seating for 2000 worshippers with additional available space outside the mosque for more worshippers. The large prayer room includes a large richly carpeted area with three seperate mihraabs. The mosque also features a library, a Quran recitation hall, and a general auditorium. On the second level, one finds a special hall for women worshippers. Additionally, the mosque is equipped with an elevator for senior citizen and disabled access, a ventilated air dome for hot weather, and modern restrooms. The mosque features parking facilities for 120 cars, and a cafeteria on the third floor. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Visiting Hours:

The period of visitation for the Masjid al-Hudaibiya is from sunrise to midnight. During Ramadan, visitation hours are from 2am until late evening (Isha prayer time). There are no opening or closing hours as the Masjid is open all day.
