Santa Clara Church In Portugal: History,Facts, & Services
History:
In the early years, the Basque settlers in the area were responsible for the construction of the church and it was completed in 1851. The church has gone through several renovations in the past 170 years. In 1891, the façade of the church was completed in the Romanesque Revival style. The interior of the church went through extensive renovations during the 1960s and wooden pews, confessionals, and Stations of the Cross were added. Santa Clara Church This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Portugal.
