The Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Conceição is a religious retreat located in the municipality of Itabira, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It was built in the mid-18th century, to serve as a place of refuge for monks and Catholic priests who wanted to anchor their religious devotions in solitude.
The Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Conceição features a neo-Gothic chapel located on a large piece of land surrounded by forests and rivers. The chapel is believed to have been built sometime between 1745 and 1750 and is one of the oldest religious buildings in the region. Inside, there is a main altar surrounded by four smaller chapels dedicated to the four evangelists.
The Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Conceição is administered by the Parish of Santa Cruz which is part of the Diocese of Itabira-Coronel Fabriciano. The hermitage is open to visitors and offers spiritual retreats and devotional lectures.
