History:
Church Santo Condestável was built between 1701 and 1719 by the Count of Sarzedas, in keeping with a covenant made by the previous Condestável, Dom Luis de Menezes, whose remains are interred in the sacristy, along with those of his wife, Dona Leonor. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Portugal.
