Overview:
Wat Chorakhe Phueak was originally built in the late 1800s, during the Rattanakosin era. It is a Chinese-Thai temple and is the only one of its kind in the city. The temple is dedicated to the Chinese god of wealth, prosperity, and success, Tsao Kun.
Facts:
The temple is known for its intricate woodcarvings and decorations, which include depictions of Buddhist deities, mythical figures such as dragons, and images of Chinese gods and goddesses. It is one of the oldest Chinese temples in Bangkok, and is considered one of the city’s top temples to visit.
History:
Wat Chorakhe Phueak has a long and interesting history. It was built in the late 1800s during the Rattanakosin era. After being damaged by fire, the temple was rebuilt by a Chinese-Thai businessman named Chai Chuan. He then donated the temple to the Thai and Chinese communities in the area.
Travel:
Wat Chorakhe Phueak is easily accessed from Bangkok’s Old City. It is close to major landmarks such as the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. In order to reach the temple, visitors take a ferry across the Chao Phraya River from the Tha Chang pier. The journey takes around 20 minutes.
