Overview:
The 130 square kilometers of Doi Phu Kha National Park protect a unique natural system due to its unique topography and climate, drawing flora and fauna from both temperate and tropical regions. The park provides a variety of habitats, diverse ecosystems which may be found nowhere else in Thailand. The park has around 10 mountains with heights greater than 1800 meters and an abundance of limestone mountains and cliffs. Doi Phu Kha National Park
Facts:
Doi Phu Kha National Park is one of the most biodiverse parks in Thailand. The park consists of a vast expanse of mountain rainforest, and is home to many rare and endangered species, as well as to numerous endemic flora and fauna species. At least 1024 plant and 3905 animal species have so far been recorded in the area, including at least 83 bird species and 181 mammal species. It also hosts over 400 species of orchids and the elusive tiger and leopard. Doi Phu Kha National Park
History:
Doi Phu Kha was already a popular site for visitors before it was officially designated as a national park in 2020. Its unique climate, environment and natural resources were already well known among locals, who had been visiting this region for many years. The park got its name from the local dialect, Phu Kha, which literally means “mountain surrounded by clouds”, owing to the fact that it is almost completely surrounded by clouds for most of the year.
