The palace served as a residential palace for the Thai kings and their noble courts, and is still the official residence of the local governor. The palace is made up of three main buildings: The Pavilion of the Lord, The Pavilion of Lords and The Pavilion of Graciousness, as well as numerous surrounding gardens, courtyards and pavilions. The Pavilion of the Lord was built in the late 19th century and is used for royal ceremonies. The Pavilion of Lords is a two story pavilion which once served as the palace kitchen.
