History:
Phum Svay has a long history, with evidence of settlement in the area dating back to the 12th century. The region was once an important hub in the Khmer Empire, and was later a regional trading center during the French colonial period. After the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime in 1975, Phum Svay became a refuge for Cambodian citizens fleeing violence in the country. Phum Svay
Travel:
Traveling to Phum Svay can be done by taking a tuk-tuk or car from Kampong Thom (about 30 km away) or by taking a bus from Phnom Penh (about 130 km away). Once there, visitors can visit traditional stilted wooden homes, learn about local culture and history, fish in the lake, enjoy wildlife walks, and more.
