The Minor Basilica of the Holy Child of Cebu (Basilica Del Sto. Niño) is a Catholic basilica and the oldest Roman Catholic church in the Philippines. Located in Cebu City, it is founded by the Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legaspi in April 1565 and is the oldest Christian foundation in the Far East. It houses a revered image of the Santo Niño (Holy Child, a 16th-century statue depicting the Holy Infant Jesus in the guise of the Sto Niño).

In 1521, Ferdinand Magellan arrived in Cebu and brought with him a statue of Sto. Niño de Atocha which received a warm reception from the natives. The same statue was later replaced with one more suited to Spanish preferences by Miguel Lopez de Legacpi in 1565 and has been in the church ever since. That statue is now displayed as the shrine’s official image of Sto. Niño and is considered to be the oldest of its kind in the world. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Philippines.
