Saraswati Temple in Muscat is a Hindu temple in Oman that is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Saraswati. Worshippers of Saraswati come from all over to pay homage to the goddess. The temple follows many of the traditional Hindu methods of worship. At the Saraswati Temple, devotees offer prayers to Saraswati through puja, or ritual worship. Puja involves offering flowers, fruit, incense and holy water. Prayers are then read or chanted, and incense is burnt in tribute to the goddess. The religious and spiritual chanting of hymns is believed to connect the devotees to the divine. At the temple, worshipers also perform daily rituals such as aarti, or ‘circumambulation’. This involves the worshippers walking around the deity’s image or idol while offering prayers and waving a decorative lamp.
