Worship Method:

Saraswati Temple in Muscat is a Hindu temple in Oman that is dedicated to the Hindu Goddess Saraswati. Worshippers of Saraswati come from all over to pay homage to the goddess. The temple follows many of the traditional Hindu methods of worship. At the Saraswati Temple, devotees offer prayers to Saraswati through puja, or ritual worship. Puja involves offering flowers, fruit, incense and holy water. Prayers are then read or chanted, and incense is burnt in tribute to the goddess. The religious and spiritual chanting of hymns is believed to connect the devotees to the divine. At the temple, worshipers also perform daily rituals such as aarti, or ‘circumambulation’. This involves the worshippers walking around the deity’s image or idol while offering prayers and waving a decorative lamp. After the puja and aarti, devotees may circle the temple with the ritual asuvan, or coconut, eight times to show their devotion. During this ritual, the coconut can be passed around or given away as a blessing. The priests of the temple also offer ‘prasadam’, a sweet food offering which includes foods such as coconut and jaggery. The prasad is then shared among the devotees to signify unity and to bless them with divine protection. This most visited temple in Oman
