Al Zulfa Mosque is a historic mosque in Muscat, Oman. It is believed to have been built in 1636 CE by Sayyid Mohammed Al Zulfa, a brave Omani warrior. This mosque stands as an important historical monument in Oman's history. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful mosques in Muscat and is renowned for its unique architecture. The mosque originally had four domes, four minarets and a central sanctuary. Today, only two of these original features remain. The central sanctuary has been replaced with a newer one and the four minarets have been reduced to two. Architecture:
Al Zulfa Mosque is a traditional-style mosque located in Salalah, Oman. It was built in the 17th century by the Samh tribal family from Wadi Halfain. The mosque features a large single chamber with a mihrab at the qibla wall. This chamber is surrounded by a series of six auxiliary domed units and two porticos, which form a semi-circular arcade around the courtyard. The main chamber is made of mud-brick and is covered with mud-plaster and decorated with white limestone. The other structures are built from coral stone. The mosque has distinctive Islamic architecture with its beautiful and intricate calligraphy. The mosque also has a supplementary small dome, which is believed to give the building its typical Omani style. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
