Brief History:

: The Al Rawdah West North South Mosque (also known as Al Rauda Mosque) is one of the oldest mosques in the capital city of Oman. This mosque was built by the former ruler of Oman, Sultan Qaboos bin Said al-Said in 1979. This mosque was designed by the Egyptian architect Abdel-Wahid Mekki and it is considered as one of the most beautiful mosques in the Middle East. The mosque is located in a park that contains a large pond in the center and it has three main entrances with a green dome that provides the mosque with an elegant look. The mosque is made up of marble, limestone and sandstone and it has a prayer room, a cenotaph and a minaret. The mosque can accommodate up to 3000 people and it contains several bookshelves, carpets, lamps and ornate decorations. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

Architecture:

The Al Rawdah Mosque is located in Muscat, Oman and is among one of the largest and most beautiful mosques in the region. The ground floor consists of a large central prayer hall with 12 pointed arched domes made of reinforced concrete, while the main prayer hall on the first floor features soaring arches with ornately decorated stalactites. The east side of the mosque is marked by a towering minaret, and the entire building is covered in marble and carved decorations. The interior of the mosque is lavishly decorated with "muqarnas" (traditional arched plaster decorations) and vibrant colors of Islamic art and architecture. The Al Rawdah West North South Mosque in Muscat, Oman, is located in Muscat's Mutrah district. The mosque's main entrance is located at the north side of the building, accessible by car from Seeb Road. The mosque has two sections - the main sect for male worshippers, and the female and children section at the rear. Both sections offer prayer facilities and ablution rooms, along with Wudu area and a reading hall. The mosque can be easily reached by public transport, as it is a short distance from the Muscat International Airport and the local bus terminus. The nearest bus station is Al Hail, located opposite the mosque on Seeb Road. For those travelling by car, Muscat Expressway's Mawalah Service Road provides convenient access to the mosque.
