The minaret is a tall, slender tower which stands above the roofline and is used for the call to prayer. The main prayer hall is a large, open space with connected columns which support the dome. The women's prayer hall is typically open to the courtyard on one side and enclosed on the other. The courtyard is a central open area surrounded by a series of entrances on all sides.
