Architecture:
Al Munisife South North Mosque is a traditional mosque located in Muscat, Oman. The mosque was built in the 16th century and is the largest and oldest mosque in the city. The architecture of this mosque consists of an entrance hall, a large courtyard, two prayer halls, a mihrab, four Minarets, a dome and a tall minbar. The entrance to the mosque has a large arched portal that leads into a large courtyard, which is flanked by two-story prayer halls. The walls of the mosque are decorated with intricate arabesque designs in traditional Omani style, which include a combination of plaster, glazed and hand-painted tiles. The courtyard has a marble fountain, which is an important part of the Islamic ablution ritual. The mihrab, or prayer niche, is made of marble and is decorated with elaborate calligraphy. On either side of the entrance hall, there are four Minarets, each boasting a sparkling gold crescent and four stages. The dome in the centre of the mosque has a golden crescent on its top as well. The tall minbar stands in the centre of the mosque and has a staircase inside it, which leads to the top of the minbar where the Friday sermon is given. For centuries, the Al Munisife South North Mosque has been an iconic symbol of religious and cultural heritage in Oman and a reminder of the importance of faith in the everyday lives of the people. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
