It was built in 2018, and is the third biggest mosque in the Sultanate of Oman, after Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat and the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Salalah. The mosque is built in traditional Omani style, adorned with white marble domes and tall golden minarets. The mosque is notable for its stunning onyx and woodwork interior, its resplendent prayer hall, and its landscaped gardens. It also has a library and permanent exhibitions. The Al Hail South Mosque in Oman was built in 1960 and is the largest mosque in the country.
