Brief History:
Al Batinah South Mosque is located in the village of Al Ansab, about 10 kilometers south of Sohar in the Al Batinah region of Oman. It was built in 1974 and is an important religious and cultural landmark of the region. The mosque is rectangular in shape, with a total area of 4,400 square meters. It has a majestic twin minaret, and the interior is spacious and elegant in design. The mosque has large arched windows and five domes, made of marble. The interior is decorated with intricate Islamic designs, and a carved Marmarium rock is found near the entrance. The mosque can accommodate up to 500 worshippers in its prayer hall. An adjacent courtyard also provides additional space for worship. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.
Architecture:
The Al Batinah South Mosque in Oman is a new modern mosque featuring classic Omani architecture. It is designed in a rectangular shape and decorated with Islamic motifs. The main prayer hall is surrounded by rows of Ottoman style archways and divided into four sections with a marble-tiled central mihrab. The minarets feature intricate stucco decoration, while the exterior walls are finished in light blue with white trim. The interior features a main dome, two side domes, decorative arches, Islamic calligraphy, and custom tilework. Natural lighting is provided by large windows, and air-conditioning is provided by ducts in the ceiling. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

It is easy to reach from the capital of Muscat via the Sultan Qaboos Highway.
