Architecture:
Al Ashkharah East Central Mosque is the largest mosque in Oman. It was built in 1989 and holds up to 40,000 worshippers. The mosque is built mainly in the traditional Omani architectural style, with a large, single dome supported by four large minarets. The walls are decorated with cushy pillows, oriental carpets, and Islamic calligraphy. Inside, the Mosque is divided into two areas: one for prayer and one for study. On the ground floor, the prayer hall is adorned with brightly coloured Islamic domed prayer niches, intricately designed windows and walls decorated with Islamic symbols. The second floor, which is still under construction, serves as an educational centre. It features an auditorium, classrooms, and a library. The mosque also boasts a large courtyard, which provides shade for visitors. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
Visiting Hours:
The visiting hours of Al Ashkharah East Central Mosque in Oman are Monday to Saturday from 9:00am to 11:00am and then from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. On Sundays, the visiting hours are from 9:00am to 11:00am. best mosque in the world.
Travel Information:
The Al Ashkharah East Central Mosque is located in Wilayat Al Ashkharah, South Sharqiyah Governorate, Oman. To reach Al Ashkharah East Central Mosque, visitors can either take a taxi or a personal vehicle. The nearest airport is Sur Airport, which is about 50 km away from the mosque. From Sur Airport, visitors can take a taxi or rent a car to reach the mosque. Public transportation is also available. The nearest bus station is Al Ashkharah bus station, which is located 3 km away from the mosque. Bus routes are available from Muscat and other local cities to Al Ashkharah bus station. Taxis are also available from the bus station to the mosque. Visitors coming from outside the city can also take the Intercity Bus Service operated by Oman National Transport Company (Mwasalat) to reach the mosque. The service is available from Muscat, Salalah, Nizwa, Sohar, etc. There is no hotel located close to the mosque. However, visitors may find accommodation at the nearby hotels in Al Ashkharah. beautiful masjid.
