Brief History:
Al Mudhaireb North West Mosque is located in the town of Mudhaireb, which is about 2 hours away from Muscat. The mosque was built over 200 years ago and is the oldest mosque in the kingdom of Oman. It is believed that the mosque was built in the 1700s and it was constructed in the traditional Omani style, using local stones, coral and timber. The structure is unique amongst mosques, because it lacks a minaret or a dome, though it has beautiful decorations. Inside the main prayer hall, visitors will find exquisite intricately carved wooden and stone features. This mosque is still in use despite its ancient age, and is available for Friday lunchtime prayer. It is one of the most famous mosque in Oman which you must visit.

The Al Mudhaireb North West Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Oman and is located in the ancient city of Bahla. The mosque has a traditional architectural style and is heavily influenced by Omani Islamic architecture. Its most prominent features are its 50-meter tall minaret, its white washed facade, and its palm-braided domes. It is built out of coral stone and is decorated with carved stucco façade panels, Quranic inscriptions, and geometric patterns. The mosque also features a large courtyard, a prayer hall, and a qibla wall. The design of the mosque reflects a typical Muslim house of worship, emphasizing prayer, faith, and community. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.

Directions: The Al Mudhaireb North West Mosque is located in Muscat, Oman. To get to the mosque from the Muscat International Airport, head North-West on highway E20 for 10km and take a right onto AlMudhaireb Street. You will then travel for 6km, and eventually you will find your way to the Al Mudhaireb North West Mosque. Hours of Operation: The Al Mudhaireb North West Mosque is only open during prayer times, which are Friday (jumuah prayer) 12:30pm - 2:00pm, and Monday - Sunday 8:00am - 10:30am.
