Morewaak Church is an Anglican church located in rural Egypt. It was built in the late eighteenth century and is still in use today. The church is named after the nearby village of Morewaak. With its white-washed walls, striking lancet windows and distinctive roof, it is a prime example of Egypt’s earliest Gothic Revival architecture. Morewaak Church History Morewaak Church was built during the British occupation of Egypt and is believed to have been constructed between 1790 and 1795. It was part of an Anglican mission to spread Christianity throughout the region, and its construction was funded by a grant from the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge. During its early years, the church was mainly used for weekly services that were led by missionaries, who would later go on to the nearby village to conduct Bible studies.
