Bethel Church of God in Christ was founded in 1907 by Bishop Charles Harrison Mason. Mason had begun a ministry in Arkansas ten years earlier in 1897. The denomination experienced remarkable growth during the early 1900s, with more than 700 churches in its first decade. In 1969, it became the first Pentecostal denomination to adopt a strictly non-segregational policy. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Namibia.
