The worship method of Shwemawdaw Pagoda in Myanmar varies from place to place but generally includes offerings of flowers, incense, and food such as fruits, cakes and other snacks. Offerings of money and clothing may also be made. Visitors are generally expected to follow certain rules when visiting the pagoda, such as wearing respectful clothing and taking off one’s shoes at the entrance. After blessings and prayers have been said, “Sponsorship of works” may be made, such as providing labor or materials for pagoda renovations, building new pagodas or offering scholarships.
