History:

St. John's Co-Cathedral was built upon the site of a small chapel that was established in 1531. It was initially intended to be used as a general church, but in 1572, the Order of St. John decided to turn it into their own place of worship and thus began to build it into the grand co-cathedral we know today. The design of the co-cathedral was inspired by Italian Renaissance architecture and the interior was furnished with several frescos and intricate artworks.
