Cathédrale FJKM In Madagascar is a Protestant Church that is part of the largest Protestant denomination in Madagascar. The church is currently located on the grounds of Faravohitra, a former palace of King Radama I. The church was established in 1856 and is the only cathedral in the country associated with the FJKM (Fiangonana Loterana Kristiana Malagasy). It is one of the best churches in Madagascar which you must visit.

History:

The foundations for the church were laid in the first half of the 19th century when the Missionary Protestant church was officially founded in Madagascar. Initially the church began as a small chapel in Antananarivo and was later relocated to Faravohit which was the administrative center of the island. It was at this location that the church was able to grow and take on a more official form. In 1856 the first pastor was appointed and the church was officially named Cathédrale FJKM. Over the years the church has seen a number of renovations and reforms, most notably the addition of the bell tower in 1965. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Madagascar.
