The museum is located in down-town Amman in the area known as Tell. It is housed in a restored mansion that was built in the late 19th century. The museum's collection includes artifacts, manuscripts, photographs, books, textiles, jewelry, tools and musical instruments. Many of these items are on display, alongside historic photographs that explain the everyday lives and customs of the people of Jordan throughout history.
