History:
The Sharif Hussein bin Ali Mosque was built in 1924 by a group of the influential people in Amman, including the city’s first mayor, Mustafa Ismail Pasha. He was inspired by the Al-Hambra Citadel in Spain and wanted to build a structure that resembled it in Amman. The structure was made using marble and red sandstone and its design blended into the surrounding landscape. Sharif Hussein bin Ali Mosque This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jordan.
