It is located in the Old City of Jerusalem and is part of the Diocese of Jerusalem and the Middle East, an autonomous church in the Anglican Communion. History:

The Cathedral was founded by Bishop Samuel Gobat, the second Bishop of Jerusalem, who felt that a great Anglican church was necessary to underpin and sustain the church in the region. Bishop Gobat was supported in this project by generous grants from Queen Victoria. Construction began in 1898 and was completed in 1906. In 1922 it was described by a visitor as “the most beautiful European-style church in Jerusalem”. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jerusalem.
