St. Abraham Monastery In Jerusalem is a Coptic Orthodox monastery located in Abu-Tor, a hillside neighborhood in Jerusalem, Israel. It is named after Abraham, the Patriarch of Faith in the Bible. It is thought to be one of the oldest Christian monasteries in Jerusalem, dating back to at least the 5th or 6th century. The monastery was built to serve the Coptic community in the city and is currently managed by the Coptic Archdiocese of Jerusalem and All Palestine. History:

Although the original date of the monastery's construction is unknown, Coptic tradition holds that it was built by Menas, a 4th-century Coptic Christian monk, who had arrived in Jerusalem from Egypt in 305 and who is now the Coptic patron saint. The current monastery complex is an expansion and refurbishment of the original structure, which was damaged by earthquakes and other disasters over the centuries. It has been in continual use since its founding. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jerusalem.
