Monastery Carmel Pater Noster In Jerusalem is a Roman Catholic Franciscan monastery which stands atop the Mount of Olives, directly across from the Old City of Jerusalem. It is thought to be built on the very spot that Jesus, according to tradition, uttered the famous words of the Lord's Prayer: "Our Father, who art in Heaven" (the Latin phrase “Pater Noster”). This holy site has been a place of Christian pilgrimage since it was first established in the late 19th century and it is part of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land. History:

The Monastery Carmel Pater Noster dates back to 1896 and was built by a group of monks of the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin, who were sent there to serve the Christian pilgrims to Jerusalem from all directions. In 1900, the Custody of the Holy Land, with the support of the Franciscans of the German nation, acquired the land on which the current monastery stands and assigned its care and management to the Order of Friars Minor Conventual. In 1903 a chapel was added to the monastery. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jerusalem.
