The Church of Saint Thomas, Jerusalem is an Eastern Orthodox church located in the Old City of Jerusalem. The church is dedicated to Thomas the Apostle, better known as “Doubting Thomas”. According to tradition, the church is said to have been built on the spot where Thomas stepped foot after his appearance in Jerusalem following the Resurrection of Christ. The church is administered by the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem. It is one of the best churches in Jerusalem which you must visit.

History:

The church is first mentioned in texts around the fourth century. By the mid-seventh century, it had become a popular pilgrimage site for Christians who made the journey to the Holy Land. In the 16th century, the church underwent a renovation and became part of an Armenian monastery compound. In the 19th century, the church was given to a Russian monastery and later restored by the Greek Orthodox patriarch. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Jerusalem.
