Biblical Church of Tokyo was founded in 1967 by Dr. George L. Williams, a United Methodist pastor from the United States. The Church still follows the teachings of Wesleyanism and its values of personal holiness, loving service, and social holiness. Dr. Williams was the first African-American pastor to serve the Tokyo area and he is honored through the annual memorial service on the last Sunday of November. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Japan.
