The church was originally known as Little York Chapel and was the third Anglican church built in the city. Construction began in 1793 and was completed the following year. The original building was demolished in 1860 and a larger and expanded building opened in 1861. This is the building that still stands today. Over the years, a parish hall, rectory and education building were added and the church underwent several updates and renovations.
