Junction Pentecostal Church of God has a long and rich history. The church was founded in 1945, with services held on Willow Island in the home of John and Lela Elswick. Over time, the congregation grew and, in 1949, a new building was constructed in Junction. The church was formally organized, with pastors Oney and Gladys Elswick at the helm, on November 25, 1951. The church became an official part of the Pentecostal Church of God in 1952 and began ordaining ministers in 1953.
