Queen Elizabeth granted St Joseph's Church a royal charter in 1614, as one of the first Catholic churches in Dublin. St Joseph has been associated with many famous Dubliners such as Daniel O'Connell, James Joyce, Brendan Behan and James Larkin. This is why, it is considered one of the oldest churches in Ireland.
