Al-Muhsin Mosque is a large mosque located in the center of the Iraqi city of Basra. It is one of the oldest mosques in Basra, dating back to the 9th century and is considered to be the sixth mosque built in Basra. The mosque was constructed by Ahmad Ibn Al-Muhsin after he was appointed the governor of Basra by caliph Al-Ma'mun, and was designed by the great architect Yahya Al-Razi. The mosque was built in the shape of a rectangle and is adorned with large colourful windows and four minarets. It currently serves as a Friday prayer mosque and hosts many religious and cultural festivals, including the annual Basra Cultural Festival.
