Al-Ma'moon Mosque - Baghdad In Iraq is a mosque located in the heart of Baghdad, Iraq. It was built in 812 by the Abbasid Caliph Al-Ma'moon. The mosque is a major pilgrimage site in the Shia Muslim world and is renowned for its magnificent architecture. It has a large golden dome surrounded by four minarets, and its façade includes many windows adorned with intricate calligraphic designs. The main hall of the mosque is rectangular in shape and is surrounded by three aisle-like side halls. The interior is decorated with marble and mosaic tile, and features various calligraphic inscriptions. In the center of the hall stands a tall minbar (pulpit). The roof is of a wooden dome construction, and the walls are adorned with glazed, ceramics faience tiles. Al-Ma'moon Mosque also features four mihrabs, which are decorated with intricate geometrical patterns and inscriptions of verses from the Qur'an.
