Al-Karrada Mosque is a mosque located in the Karrada district of Baghdad, Iraq. The mosque was originally built in 1511 and is known for its ornate and distinctive minarets. The Al-Karrada Mosque is a large oval shaped mosque, located in Al Karrada, Baghdad, Iraq. It is considered one of the most important mosques in Baghdad and considered by some to be the oldest mosque in the city. The mosque dates back to the ninth century, and is said to commemorate the death of a seventh-century Arab general who was killed at the Battle of Qadisiyyah. It is also said to have been visited by the Abbasid caliph Al-Mansur in 762, who prayed there and established the Al Karrada Mosque as a religious site. The mosque has a typical Abbasid architectural style, characterized by large spaces around the walls, and a single large dome, supported by four arches. The walls are adorned with horseshoe arches, with intricately carved ornaments, while numerous rows of interior columns stretch along the length of the building. There is also an impressive minaret, built in the traditional style, made up of several tiers of terraces, and support columns. The Al-Karrada Mosque is a widely visited historic mosque, and an important Islamic symbol in Baghdad. It is seen as a place of pilgrimage by many people in the city. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
