The current mosque was built mainly in the 11th century and was extensively expanded and renovated between 1806 and 1838. The Jameh Mosque features a blend of Mongol, Timurid, and Safavid architectural styles. It is a large complex that includes a main prayer hall, a courtyard, and several small chambers and passages. The main prayer hall has spectacular tiled arches and mihrabs decorated with intricate glazed tiles. Architecture:

The Jameh Mosque of Zanjan is one of the grandest mosques in Iran and dates back to the 8th century. Its unique architecture combines features of both Iranian Islamic and Western elements. It has three courtyards, four iwans, nine entrances and two minarets, with its colorful mosaic tiles and plaster decorations. The main entrance to the mosque is located on the northern side, leading to the first courtyard which has five iwans on its four sides. On the upper part of the east and west iwans, there are large arches that open into the second courtyard. The second courtyard houses four iwans, with each iwan being built in a different style and facing a different direction. There are three entrances to the second courtyard, two on the northern side and one entrance which leads to the imposing main prayer hall located on the eastern side of the mosque. The main prayer hall or the inner sanctuary consists of a large central dome with intricate plaster decorations, colorful stucco, and numerous marble columns. The dome is supported by four arches located at the corners. The interior walls of the prayer hall are decorated with paintings and artistic tilework. The complex also has two minarets built according to western architectural patterns. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
