Brief History:
Jameh Mosque of Marand (Persian: مسجد جامع مرند) is one of the oldest mosques in Iran and a famous shrine located in the north-western Iranian city of Marand. Originally built in 1073, Jameh Mosque of Marand stands as a grand example of the Islamic architectural style of the Seljuk period. The mosque has gone through a number of ups and downs throughout its history. It was totally destroyed in earthquakes in 1342 and 1382, and was rebuilt in its original shape during the reign of the Safavid dynasty in 1610. Despite the rehabilitation process, the mosque was reconstructed again in the mid-20th century and now consists of a large number of old monuments. These monuments include some marble slabs decorated with Kufic script, a large marble mihrab, a minbar, and a minaret. The mosque also houses a museum, a public library, a small madrassa, and several public baths. This historical mosque also serves as one of the religious and cultural symbols of the Marand. It is one of the most famous mosque in Iran which you must visit.

The mosque consists of a central courtyard, porticoes, a main prayer hall and several minarets. The prayer hall features a central dome with a variety of decorative elements. The balcony of the building has several muqarnas and decorative stucco. The facades are composed of blue and turquoise tilework. The minarets are of a square shape and feature various decorative elements. This is why, it is considered one of the most beautiful mosque in the world.
