The mosque was intended to be both a religious and cultural site, as it is the largest and most prominent mosque in the entire Province of Central Kalimantan. The mosque was designed to resemble an Umayyad mosque in Damascus, Syria, using local materials for designing and constructing the structure’s walls. The building is composed of two floors, with the first floor consisting of a large mosque and courtyard with separate compartments for men and women to pray, a library, lecture halls, and a nursery.
