Brief History:

Asy-Syuhada Mosque Bandung, also known as the Masjid Raya Bandung, is the oldest and largest mosque in bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The mosque was built in 1753 by Datuk Paduka Jafar who was the first ruler of the Islamic Sultanate of Banten and Java. It is also said that the mosque was built at the request of the sultan of Banten, a trading port near Jakarta. The original structure only had a single room and was made of brick and stone. Over the years, the building has undergone many renovations with the last one being completed in 2018. The building has now been transformed into one of the most beautiful mosques in Bandung with two big domes and four minarets. The entrance of the mosque is guarded by four small towers and the interior walls are decorated with marble plaques, colorful paintings and intricate carvings. The Asy-Syuhada Mosque, also known as the Al-Fatah Mosque, is located in the city of Bandung, Indonesia. Situated on Jalan Purna Deli, this mosque was officially established in 1959. The building was designed by the architect Ir. T. Winaam With of the Department of Public Works of West Java. The structure of the mosque follows a Malay design that is typical in many mosques throughout Indonesia. This mosque has three distinct levels: the ground floor, the main floor, and the upper floor. The ground floor functions as a prayer room, while the main floor and upper floor house the mosque's offices and other administrative areas. The mosque is topped with a white dome and two tall minarets. The exterior of the Asy-Syuhada Mosque is mainly constructed of brick and painted in white. The side walls are decorated with ceramic tiles depicting religious motifs while the entrance arch is topped with a panel of colorful mosaic tiles. The interior of the mosque is also painted in white and decorated with wood carving and calligraphy. The main prayer hall is a large open space with several columns and decorated with a mural painting of a night sky with stars on the ceiling. The inner walls of the mosque are decorated with colorful calligraphy and wood carvings. The floor is covered with soft rugs and the mosque is equipped with air-conditioning and sound systems for religious services. It is about 24.6 km away from Husein Sastranegara International Airport and can easily be accessed by car following the Dago, Ciroyom and Pasirkaliki street. By Train: The nearest train station is the Bandung Station, located at Jalan Stasiun No. 1 - Bandung. From there, take a taxi or angkot (local public minibus) to the mosque. The journey should take about 20 minutes. By Bus: The mosque can be reached by taking a bus to the Dago area in Bandung from Terminal Ledeng or Terminal Leuwi Panjang.
