Overview:
The Trikoteswara Swami temple is considered one of the oldest temples in Telangana, situated in a small village near Keesara. It is one of the famous Shiva temples in the region and is believed to have been constructed in the 15th century or possibly earlier. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The temple complex consists of three Shiva lingams, which give the temple its name, Trikoteswara Swami meaning the three lingams of Shiva. Trikoteswara Swami is known to be worshiped in the form of three Shivalingams in the same shrine, each placed below the other with a slight inclination towards the left. The main shrine is surrounded by a chariot like structure and a tiled roof. You must visit one of these historical places in India on your India tour
Interesting facts:
The temple also houses a Garuda statue, believed to be from the Gupta and early Chalukyan period. The temple also has structures resembling Buddhist and Islamic architecture, indicating the influence of different religions in the region.
