Overview:
The Tomb of Sher Shah Suri, also known as Mausoleum of Sher Shah Suri, is situated in the city of Sasaram in the Indian state of Bihar. It was built between 1540 and 1545, during the reign of the Suri Dynasty. The tomb is a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture and is considered to be one of the most beautiful Mughal monuments in India. The tomb also houses two cenotaphs of Sher Shah's parents. This national monument of India portrays the history and culture of the country.
History:
The most prominent feature of the Tomb of Sher Shah Suri is its high domed structure, which is about five stories tall. The interior and exterior of the tomb are intricately decorated with panels of colored tiles. The white stone from which it is built is considered to be of the finest quality and is adorned with various geometric and floral designs. The most striking feature of the monument is its large central dome, which stands over 25 m high and is crowned with a marble pinnacle. The domes and pointed arches add to the grandeur of the Tomb of Sher Shah Suri and make it one of the most impressive Mughal monuments of its time.
