Tirumalai Nayaka Palace, Srivilliputtur Overview
Tirumalai Nayaka Palace is located in the town of Srivilliputtur in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu in India. It was constructed by Tirumalai Nayaka, who belonged to Nayaka dynasty that ruled the Madurai region of Tamil Nadu during the 17th century. The palace was built using an unique blend of Dravidian and Rajput styles of architecture.

The palace complex consists of large courtyards, rambling corridors, spacious halls and elegant interiors, topped by splendid gopurams. The walls of the palace have many paintings and decorative reliefs, while the four pyramid shaped towers of the palace adorn the skyline.

This royal palace was built during the reign of Tirumalai Nayaka who ruled the region between 1623 and 1659. He had eight ministers as well as eight building blocks created at the same time to represent each minister. However, the palace was renovated by Saraboji Maharaja from the Maratha dynasty in the 19th century and is now protected by the Archaeological Survey of India.
